I've tried so many diets over the years and they help a little, but the weight always comes back. I've been a diabetic for about 18 years and take several medications to be able to some what control it. I can't get the weight off and don't know how to get to that point by myself, I promise to work hard if given a chance.  |

Marital Status: Widowed Hometown: Eastgate Why I want to be a part of the Dream Team: I had vertical-banded gastroplasty in 2001 and lost 140 pounds. In 2005, I became widowed with four children. Financially, I lost everything. Today, I'm a sophomore at UC with a 3.97 GPA; trying to secure our future. I work hard, but need the scholarship to even dream of an opportunity like this. I've gained 60 pounds since then and can't lose it alone. The mental challenges I've faced have negated the benefits from the surgery. I never dealt with the underlying issues that cause me to eat the way that I do. I have an eating disorder that haunts me daily. I want to learn how to eat to live instead of live to eat! |

I am currently a fulltime nursing student at Beckfield College and work part-time at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Over the last few years I have put on a significant amount of weight (50 pounds) and it is now affecting my health in several ways - high blood pressure, pinched sciatic nerves are aggravated due to weight, and overall just feel blah!! Marital Status: Married Hometown: Harrison Why I want to be a part of the Dream Team: I am 43 years old and, until about 10 years ago, have always been very active. Over the past few years, my activity level has gone down and my weight has gone up...causing multiple health issues including knee, back, and foot problems, shortness of breath, and most recently - a diagnosis of diabetes. I hate the way I look and FEEL! I've tried diets - usually some success and then regained the lost weight PLUS more later. I want to look and feel healthier, as well as, provide a good role model for my children. |

My doctor said I have metabolic syndrome: I am a recently diagnosed diabetic with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and there is heart disease in my family. I have tried all kinds of weight loss programs without success and do not want to be a statistic. My doctor said if I lose weight now I would be able to reduce the risk of heart disease. Also, I have two daughters who are battling weight issues and I would love to be a role model. |

He was born with Down syndrome so I quit working outside the home and started childcare from my home so I could be home with him and help him with his therapy. I don't regret it for a minute, except that he is now almost 8 years old and I need to get healthy for my family. I have hypothyroid/goiter and other diets have not worked no matter how much I exercise. |

I am a busy working mom. I have two kids who are very active in sports and a husband who loves me, but says I am starting to look like a barrel. I just lost my father-in-law at the beginning of the year. My mom is a diabetic, and I don't want to be like this anymore. Please HELP ME!!!! |

I have been put on diabetic medicine for being borderline type 2 and have been placed on high blood pressure and cholesterol medicine. My goal is to get to a healthy weight so that I can get off all of the medication and see my three very small grandchildren grow old. I need this help to obtain this goal. I have taken steps to become more active, but need this additional support and program to reach my goal.  |
