I feel so lucky to have such a caring, compassionate teacher who loves kids and is such a great person and a terrific role model. Please consider my teacher Mrs.Kelly Stitzel for the teacher of the week, she really deserves to be recognized for all she does for everyone in our school and community. |

James Vassallo was nominated by the parents of Alex Dickey who wrote: This January, St Martin is honoring Mr. Vassallo. He has taught at St Martin's for 40 years. Mr. V. pushes each child to do their best. If you want to learn, you will learn. His class is not easy but he will provide the help if you want it. Mr. V. teaches 6-8 grade Science. If you pass his room after school on a night before a test, you will find Mr. V. there reviewing with any student who wants the extra studying time. My son has Mr. V. for 6th grade science and I had him in 8th grade. Although he has mellowed over the years, some things have not changed—his desire to teach the students everything he can about science along with caring for them. Over 30 years ago as I sat in his class praying to pass the next test, I never would have thought that I would be hoping for my son to be taught by Mr. V. But here I am thrilled that my son has the privilege to be taught by someone you cares as much as Mr. V. Mr. Vassallo expects each student to do their best and I know my son will benefit from this teaching style as he continues his education and than proceeds into the workplace because Mr. V teaches them never to settle for average always push for that extra inch. As my son told me just a few months ago Mr. Vassallo makes science fun". I hope WRRM98 can join St. Martin by honoring Mr. Vassallo a man who has dedicated so much to our school and students. I know I speak for thousands of former/current students and parents when I say Mr. V. deserved this award and much more.

Wendy Furman
Third Grade
Caywood Elementary
Edgewood, KY
Nominated By: Stacy Morrison (mother of Tanner Morrison)

Wendy Furman was nominated by Tanner Morrison's
mother Stacy Morrison who wrote: I'm actually writing on behalf of
my son, Tanner. He is nine years old and has several learning
disabilities. The time that he has spent in Mrs. Furman's class and
with the help of his specialty teachers, for the first time this
year I actually witnessed my son reading. This is something I was
beginning to believe I would never see happen. His team of teachers
are so very dedicated and when my husband and I express our extreme
gratitude they seem puzzled by it because they believe this is part
of their commitment to education; it's what their supposed to do.
What they don't seem to understand is that this is something that so
far no other teacher has accomplished. Not only is Tanner learning
to read, he's taking spelling tests and passing with flying colors.
Mrs.Furman even made Tanner student of the month in November 2007.
She has not only improved his educational skills, but she has
improved his self-esteem, self confidence, and he actually enjoys
going to school. It's amazing the difference that a teacher can make
in a student's life, but the difference a teacher can make in a
developmentally delayed student is phenomenal. There will never be
enough words to express our appreciation for what she has done for
our son. She truly is a committed and loving teacher. Our son loves
to draw her pictures, take her flowers, and when we're at school
events its Mrs. Furman he wants to sit with, not his parents! That
in itself is a true testimony to her character. Please consider her
for Teacher of the Week. We already consider her the teacher of a
lifetime.

Janet McGuire
Special Education
Madeira Elementary School
Fairfield, OH
Nominated By: Dave Dougherty’s Family
|

Mrs. McGuire has been with David since Kindergarten. Dave is in fourth grade now, and she has been with him every step of the way.
She goes over and above helping us and his educational team meet his needs without enabling him. She is a kind, compassionate
person, and is concerned with all facets of Dave's life. She has never turned down trying a new method to assist Dave, no matter
how unconventional. She is the voice for Dave and myself. As a parent of a child who exists outside the typical spectrum I hear
so much from others as to how their children's needs aren't being met. I cannot say that. I trust Janet with my son, and I have
seen him grow into a fine young boy with a gentle, giving personality. She has always put Dave's best interests first. The
amazing thing is, she does and has done this for all of her students. Being a special educator is much different than being a
classroom teacher. Janet deals with so many different personalities and needs, and never seems to lose her enthusiasm. I
cannot tell you what a gift she has been to our family and the school. I hope you will strongly consider her for this honor.

Mrs. Loretta Boyne was nominated by Julie Gerke (Mother of Jacob Gerke) who wrote: My son Jacob has a learning disability. We were told 3 years ago that he would never read beyond a 2nd grade level. Mrs. Boyne has been Jacob's intervention specialist for the last two years and Jacob is currently at a 5th grade reading level. She has spent many school and personal hours, helping Jacob and his parents understand his disability and learn the best way to help educate him. Because of her efforts, Jacob's grades are up and his self confidence is great. Mrs. Boyne has been a great asset to our lives and certainly deserves a little extra recognition. She believes in her work and the children she educates. She gives these children something they may not have had if it wasn't for her.
Please consider Mrs. Boyne for the Great American Teacher of the Week as she has played an very important part in my son's and many other learning disabled children lives in the Oak Hills School District.

Kathy Baugh was nominated by Ashleigh Snell who wrote: I would like to nominate my teacher, Mrs. Kathy Baugh, for the Warm98 Great American Teacher of the Week. Mrs. Baugh is an amazing teacher who teaches accounting. I am one of just a few sophomores amongst a class of many juniors and seniors. However, Mrs. Baugh has always encouraged me to do my best; therefore I am not the least bit intimidated. I have learned so much in her class that I know will benefit me later as an adult. My mom keeps telling me that business courses are important for me to take. Mrs. Baugh has made Accounting easy to understand and enjoyable. I have made the decision to give up my study hall in order to continue with the next level of accounting. I am even considering majoring in accounting in college. I believe that high school level teachers are often times over looked because all of the attention that goes to elementary level teachers, as being the ones to establish early study habits. I feel that Mrs. Baugh is truly an exceptional teacher that the Milford School District is very fortunate to have on staff. I hope you will consider my nomination of Mrs. Kathy Baugh as the Warm98 teacher of the week. Thank you.

Mr. Tim Foley
5th Grade
St.Ignatius Loyola School
Cincinnati, OH
Nominated By: Zack Sullivan

Mr. Foley is a great teacher whose excellent teaching abilities are shown in his students. He is always
generous and tries to help kids learn by approaching them with different ways, and he always is giving long, interesting
comments on your papers and stories instead of short things such as Great or Excellent. And he is never afraid to give us a
challenge. His work as a teacher is Scintillating (that word and many others are on our vocab tests) and I think he does a great
job with word choice. I hope he can win this and that he can have great students in the years to come!!!!!!

Matt Curless
Visual Arts
Glen Este High School
Cincinnati, OH
Nominated By: Greg Platt

My favorite teacher would happen to be Mr. Curless. He is my 12th grade computer graphics teacher. All though the class is one of
those class's that comes naturally easy to me, he always seems to throw in a challenge to my peers and I. But this is not the reason
I am nominating him. This year I have had some trouble in some of my other class's, Mr. Curless has greatly helped me to succeed in
getting better grades and pushing me into trying harder and applying to college. So I hope my favorite teacher wins it would be
greatly appreciated! GO TROJANS!

Heidy Davenport
Pre-K and K
North Avondale
Montessori School
Cincinnati, OH
Nominated By:
Krista Taylor

Heidy Davenport was nominated by Krista Taylor who
wrote: My son's teacher, Heidy Davenport, has mastered both the art
and the science of teaching young children. She has a multi-age
Montessori classroom at North Avondale Montessori School (Cinti
Public School District). Her students come from all walks of life
and all ability levels, but every single one of them feels like a
superstar in her room. They are gently taught to be respectful of
themselves and others, use the materials with care, and be
responsible for their own learning. Heidy models empathy and caring,
and her students mirror this behavior to each other. I volunteer in
the classroom one morning each week, and it functions like a
well-oiled machine. All the children know what they need to do and
how to do it, and, if they need help, they know how to ask a
classmate or a teacher. I have never heard a harsh word spoken by a
teacher or a student in that classroom. It is truly a beautiful
example of the Montessori method. Heidy nurtures the body, mind, and
spirit of her students every day through her curriculum instruction,
gentle behavioral redirection, and genuine love of children. We are
so grateful for her presence in our lives. She truly deserves this
honor.

Teacher of the Week #8
March 14, 2008
Lois Cropendbaker
First Grade
Elda Elementary
Hamilton, OH
Nominated By: Adrian Rye's (student) Mother
|

|
Lois Cropendbaker was nominated by Adrian Rye's mother who wrote: Amazing, compassionate and creative are words that only begin to describe this wonderful teacher. My son Adrian had an extremely rough start in Kindergarten with multiple trips to the principles office...twelve to be exact and in only one day in her class she managed to turn his attitude around. She is always finding creative ways to encourage each child and let them know they are special. Each child is given they're own week of the school year to share about themselves and have the other kids make a book page to tell them what their fellow students admire about them. Plus, Mrs. Cropenbaker is constantly spending her own hard earned money on treats for the children....like a stocking full of gifts for them at christmas. And the biggest thing she does that is above and beyond the call of duty is supporting each child at their own activity. She said to give her a schedule of athletics, scout meetings, dances and so on and she would make at least one event. She is always sacrificing her personal finances, countless hours and endless passion and commitment to the children. To pass her up on your recognition list would be a shame as every teacher and previous student in our school knows and loves this amazing women. What a better world we would have if every teacher could be like her!!!

Danielle came to second grade never knowing what an A on her report card felt like. Within the first month Mrs.
Hopkins realized Danielle needed Academic help. She notified the Principal and set up a meeting for intervention.
Danielle was failing math and reading at this time. Now it is February and not only is Danielle receiving an A in reading

Danielle a reality. I am so glad for teachers like Mrs. Hopkins. She is warm hearted, caring, and goes all out for each
of her students. I have helped with her school parties and it is very evident her students just love her and she plays
such neat learning games. Her students are having so much fun at learning and being a part of her class. I couldn't possibly
thank her enough. Thank you Mrs. Hopkins you have helped Danielle build a foundation for learning that will help her throughout

Molly Miller
Kindergarten
College Hill Fundamental Academy
Cincinnati, OH
Nominated By: Denise Obermeyer

I have been working or volunteering with Molly Miller for the past 10 years. And SHE IS A TRUE ROLE MODEL FOR ME.
I could literally go on with my life, and try to achieve other goals in my life...but the love, honor, and acceptance
that I get working with Molly and her kindergarten 4 class has truly opened my eyes to see a side of this world that
many do not see. MOLLY is NOT the AVERAGE OR TYPICAL TEACHER. She goes way above and beyond the call of her duties.
She gets the job done, and she does it with pride.
I have worked with teachers that get to school at 7:30 a.m. (School starts at 7:45 a.m. and schools gets over 2:15 p.m.--and
they are out of their classroom doors by 2:30 p.m. NOT MOLLY !!! She is the type of teacher that PLANS A HEAD, so that SHE
CAN SUCCEED on being a SUCCESSFUL TEACHER for that following day!!! I admire Molly so much for that gift that she has given
to me. She is a very conscientious teacher, who strives to be the best that she can be.
She works individually, as well with the kindergarten class. She has been known to pull a student out of a line for
correction, and let the other students witness so that they know or see what is RIGHT from WRONG. As the year progresses,
Molly stands up as a WONDERFUL KINDERGARTEN TEACHER, WHO I HOPE WARM 98 WILL HONOR HER!!!
So may I ask, will WARM 98 FM honor MRS. MOLLY MILLER for being a #1 TEACHER in the CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT?
She's my AMERICAN IDOL!!! ;-)
Now, she'll probably say to me: WHY DID YOU E-MAIL WARM 98 FM? And my response will be: YOU DESERVE IT!!!
If any of you have met or know of Molly Miller then you well know what a WONDERFUL, ACCEPTING, and LOVING TEACHER SHE
TRULY IS. She's a gift to this world. And with her special qualities to love, help a child grow emotionally, physically,
and mentally is beyond the call of duty, rather it comes from a WONDERFUL TEACHER'S HEART!!!!
