The Morning Show
Author: Dean and Randi Created: 9/2/2009 10:32 AM
Welcome to our new Morning Show page! "Thanks for listening and stopping by Warm98.com," from Dean, Randi, Angie, Larry, our cast of interns, and everyone at Warm 98.

Ever have one of those mornings when nothing seems to go right?  We had one last Friday during our WARM 98 Morning Show Christmas party and it was quite a mess!!!  (Poor Bobbi!!)   It all started with a rainy morning and a brown paper bag filled with a crock pot, a jug of Orange Juice, and a plastic container filled with a CHEESY BEEFY DIP appetizer to share.

Once we got here, everyone was bringing things in for the party...and I relaized I had grabbed the chips out of my car but had forgotten the other bag .  Well, Bobbi had to run back out to her car and offered to grab it for me.  Needless to say, the rain did a number on the bag as the handle broke and orange juice and cheesy beefy dip went everywhere.....spilling all over her clothes!!  What a way to start a morning huh???

But, all was not lost... somehow she saved the dip before it all spilled on the ground...YUM!!  And we're still laughing about it too!  Here's the recipe...but be careful if you take it with you to share!!

CHEESY BEEFY DIP

1 lb ground beef

1/2 pkg. hot sausage

2 cans diced tomatoes w/ green chilies

1 small onion (chopped)

1 large box Velveeta (cubed)

Brown beef, sausage and chopped onion in large skillet til done.   Add cans of tomatoes w/ chilies and cubed velveeta.  Stir on low til cheese melts and flavors blend.  Serve warmed (in crock pot?) with tortilla chips or scoops.

Ahh... the Holidays are here..and it's time once again for Crockpot Mashed Potatoes!  We talked about this recipe on the morning show several years ago (despite Dean's Crockpot issues..ha ha) and it's a holiday must for our family dinners. Hope you enjoy them too!!

Yummy, easy, creamy, buttery, tasty, seconds, thirds, and devoured... are just a few words to describe these CROCKPOT MASHED POTATOES.  Be warned though, once you start making them, you'll be asked to bring them to every holiday dinner for years to come. ENJOY!!

CROCKPOT MASHED POTATOES

  • 5 pounds of diced potatoes ( I prefer the red potatoes)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 4-5 chicken bouillon cubes
  • stick of butter
  • minced garlic (2-3 tsp. or more)
  • salt and pepper

Dice potatoes and boil in large pot of water with chicken bouillon cubes and minced garlic.  Drain when tender but reserve several cups of garlic chicken water for blending.  Mash potatoes using some of the garlic chicken flavored water.  After potatoes are mashed, blend in sour cream and cream cheese.  Place potatoes in crockpot (or large bowl) and refrigerate (overnight is fine!)  Plug in crockpot and heat potatoes a few hours before dinner.  Insert the stick of butter into center of hot potatoes and add salt and pepper before serving. YUM!!

TIPS for better potatoes....

  • Don't use too much garlic water for blending as the sour cream and cream cheese will add additional moisture.
  • I also add a little milk when mashing the potatoes for extra creaminess.
  • French Fried onions and a little shredded cheese make great toppings!
  • Doubling the recipe is a good idea for large groups and leftovers!

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family!

With two dogs, a couple of turtles, and an aquarium full of fish, the last thing I thought we'd get is another animal at our house. But, my daughter somehow convinced me she needed another cute, little, furry animal to love and....  I caved!  Actually, when we went to the pet store, we were looking for a guinnea pig.  That's when we were spotted by THUMPER who hopped around and wooed us over.  As they say, the rest is history.... A 10 week old adorable baby bunny now resides at our house..and he's warming up to all of us. And...Guess what?  He even uses the litter box!! Who knew?  Guess I'll be buying lots of carrots at the store, huh?

Got any bunny stories?  Email them to me.. needless to say, we could use the advice.  This is a first for our family!

Talk to you soon!

I've been getting calls about our ghost experience over the weekend.

It was at the Snowhill Country Club in New Vienna near Wilmington. Great Ghost stories, Food, Drinks and audio of ghosts that Ghost Hunters have taped over the years.

Make your reservations by Sept. or you'll miss out next year.

I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to the debate tonight between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.

This has got to be the most anticipated debate in our lifetime! Snacks, where are the snacks!!! I'm beginning something I've never done before, working on a MAC Machine! I may need tips form my faitful WARM 98 listeners!

Call with your comments about the VP Ddebate Friday morning 749-1098!

See Ya!
